The Plant Clinic is open.

About the Clinic

We are a diagnostic facility that offers fee-based plant disease problem solving and specialized identification services. Home gardeners are encouraged to first consult with their local OSU County Extension office for free consultations on disease problems.

We also house the OSU Insect ID Clinic, a free insect identification service.

Our address:

Oregon State University, Botany and Plant Pathology

Attn: Plant Clinic

2701 SW Campus Way

Corvallis, OR 97331

The Plant Clinic is open Monday through Friday 8:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Melodie Putnam has retired.

After 30 years of serving clients' needs in the Plant Clinic, our director retired June 30, 2023.

Melodie's successor will begin September 30th. In the meantime, the Clinic will continue to be operational and is staffed with excellent personnel who have solid experience in plant problem diagnosis. However, because it is a small lab, the absence of one person may result in slower response times.

The Plant Clinic staff remain dedicated to solving your plant problems, and look forward to working with you!

Emerald Ash Borer

This brilliant green beetle will kill native and cultivated ash trees. Please be on the alert for dying ash trees, and if found, look for evidence of the beetle

(borer holes, adults, galleries under the bark).
