Overview of Plant Disease Diagnoses for 2013

25 samples from growers and homeowners were received in 2013. Homeowners had various fungal problems associated with woody ornamentals.

Wine grape growers had a variety of issues ranging from weather related and spray injury abiotic problems. Some vines displayed leaf reddening that turned out not to be virus related, but another to Armillaria root rot. Another case of poor growth and dieback revealed Diplodia and Nectria that are involved in perennial trunk cankers. See also a recent presentation on Grapevine trunk diseases.

Field crop growers had wheat with stunting and root rot caused by Rhizoctonia, and oats had foliage discoloration, some of which may have been caused by cold weather.
